Joshua Saghie is a dynamic lawyer at Talbot Law, called to the Ontario Bar in 2024. With a diverse background and an international education, Joshua brings a unique perspective to his practice in Family Law and Criminal Law. Born in the United States and raised partly in Jamaica, his Jamaican and Lebanese heritage has instilled a deep appreciation for diversity and cultural understanding.
At just 17, Joshua embarked on an ambitious journey, relocating to the United Kingdom to earn his law degree from the University of York, specializing in Corporate and Commercial Law. After obtaining his Certificate of Qualification and excelling in the Canadian legal licensing process, he shifted his focus to family and criminal law, where his empathetic approach and robust advocacy have become hallmarks of his practice.
Before his legal career, Joshua excelled in management consulting, where he led innovation and process improvement initiatives for major industries, including Oil & Gas and Fintech. His ability to navigate complex challenges and align corporate strategy with regulatory practice uniquely positions him to deliver practical solutions tailored to his clients’ needs.
Joshua's legal expertise is complemented by a passion for community engagement. As a former board member of a non-profit organization, he contributed to initiatives promoting community empowerment. His commitment to critical thinking, logical reasoning, and client-centered advocacy ensures meaningful outcomes for families in crisis and individuals navigating the criminal justice system.
Outside of his legal work, Joshua remains an active voice in professional and volunteer circles, blending his varied experiences to make a positive impact both in and out of the courtroom.
Joshua’s approach to law reflects Ontario’s evolving legal landscape, where tradition meets innovation. In a diverse and multicultural society, Family and Criminal Law demand more than just advocacy, they require adaptability and a focus on equitable outcomes. Joshua embraces this challenge, addressing complex issues such as Indigenous child custody and the growing shift toward rehabilitation in criminal sentencing.
He is particularly committed to advancing access to justice through Limited Scope Retainers, providing flexible, affordable legal solutions to clients who might otherwise go unrepresented. For Joshua, practicing law in Ontario is about more than resolving disputes, it’s about empowering individuals and shaping a justice system that serves everyone effectively.
At Talbot Law, we take pride in providing our clients with quality service for their legal matters.
